Support healthy digestion, a shiny coat, and steady energy.

Two ways to feed

Frozen raw or freeze-dried

Pick the format that fits your freezer and your routine.

Feeding guide

How much does your dog need?

Most dogs eat 2 to 4% of their body weight a day. Tell us the weight and we do the math, so you are not guessing at six in the morning.

Every dog is different. Start slow and watch digestion. These are general guidelines, not a prescription, and your veterinarian is the right person to confirm the amount.

The switch

Transition your pet to raw.

Slow and steady wins. Most dogs cross over in two weeks. Questions about the transition? Reach out. We're here to help.

What to expect

Some dogs jump straight to all-raw with no trouble. Others need the full ramp, or a few extra days. Both are normal. Smaller, firmer stools are common, and a good sign.

Always consult your veterinarian before introducing new foods, especially for pets with existing health conditions.

Start small. Mix a quarter raw into the usual bowl and keep meals on the same schedule.

"Been feeding my 10 month old female Labrador this for a couple of months now and she loves it. I’ve tried a few other raw food companies and this is the best."

"My babies love it—my dogs, my cat... My cat is an old man, 16 years old. I thought he was getting ready to leave us, but I’m guessing he just needed more protein in his diet since he couldn’t catch his own. Now he runs to the door and pushes my little dogs aside. Thank you.”

"Our 80lb Fox Red Lab loves, loves, loves this stuff. We get so many compliments about how soft his coat is and I attribute it to his food. Additionally, so easy to store it, take on road trips, use at his overnight dog sitter, etc. Very excited that the company was able to get productions up and running after the fire. We will continue to keep using it."

"I had heard amazing reviews about these products and I decided to give them a try. I spoke to Jason about which products he recommended for my pups and this one was one of them. My pups love it! Beyond satisfied with this product!"

Once it arrives

The five-minute quick start

Four things to know before the first bowl. Everything else you can sort out as you go.

Thawing

Move a tube to the fridge about 24 hours before you need it.

Storage

Keep it frozen until then. Freeze-dried lives in the pantry, no fridge needed.

Portioning

Serve the daily amount, split into two meals for most adults.

Freeze-dried

Rehydrate meals with about the same warm water which will not all absorb or serve dry with water available. As a topper or treat, use it dry.

From our family in Iowa

I started this because I wanted to know exactly what was in my own dogs' bowls. Turns out a lot of you wanted the same thing.

Midwest Legacy Beef started small back in 1995 feeding champion race and sled dogs. All these years later we're still at it, now sending our quality product directly to you. Unlike others, the number at the bottom of this page rings to me directly, not a call center. If you want to know what's in a blend, or how to get your dog started on raw, just ask. We'll walk you through it.
